Port Dickson, Malaysia - Beach at Avillion Port Dickson

Like the rest of Port Dickson, the beach next to the 4-star Avillion Port Dickson is not among the best in Malaysia. If the beach is the primary reason for staying, then head to Langkawi Island or the beaches on the East Coast. The Avillion makes up for this with its superb accommodation and facilities for its guests to enjoy. Nevertheless, it's still an enjoyable stroll along the beach and though a public beach, it seldom gets crowded even during the weekends and holidays.

Port Dickson, Malaysia - Avillion Port Dickson

The Avillion Port Dickson may be a 4-star resort but is among the cream of the resorts in Port Dickson. A standard room costs around RM280 (USD86) on weekdays but goes twice as much on weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Considering the quality of the accommodation and facilities provided, a stay at the Avillion during the peak periods is still much less than similar resorts in Hawaii or Spain.

The Avillion promotes itself as a family resort but that should not stop honeymooners from coming here. Accommodation here includes villas and chalets located in the garden area and seafront. Facilities include swimming pools, terraces and sun decks, gym, spa, sauna and facilities for water sports. I give a 'thumbs up' for the Malaysian and Western dishes served and the pleasant ambiance of the restaurants.

Port Dickson, Malaysia - PD Golf & Country Club

The PD Golf & Country Club offers 2-star accommodation at its golf course. The club's facilities including accommodation is open to non-members and non-golfers. The standard room starts from around RM110 (USD34) and family room from RM145 (USD45). The standard room is small for its category and the larger family room would be a better alternative if willing to pay a little extra.

I wouldn't give good reviews for the rooms but if you have golf in your mind, why bother. Then again, in its price range, you'd probably get the same quality room at other accommodation in Port Dickson. However, the restaurant does serve reasonably good food for less the price than other resorts in the area. Facilities include a medium-size swimming pool, karaoke lounge and tennis courts.

Port Dickson, Malaysia - Corus Paradise Resort

The 4-star Corus Paradise Resort is about 3 km (2 miles) from Port Dickson's town centre. A standard room starts from around RM220 (USD68). If you prefer not to pay two to three times more at other 4 to 5-star resorts in Port Dickson, than Corus Paradise makes a good alternative. However, don't expect the same standard of accommodation and facilities but good enough for me and my family.

The lobby area has a cozy ambiance with a nice view of the sea. I don't have any major complaints, the rooms are comfortable but could do with some upgrade in the furnishing. The restaurant serves reasonably good Western and local dishes, though I have heard of complaints from others - maybe they are hard to please by any means. There is no access to the beach but there is a man-made beach.
