Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - The KTM Railway Office

Across the street from the Old Railway Station is the KTM Railway Office in Kuala Lumpur. This is another impressive architecture from the British colonial era. This heritage building with its mix of Western, Moorish and Mughal architecture was built in 1910 and designed by Arthur Benison Hubback. Unfortunately, you can't tour inside the building but the view of the architecture from the outside is eye catching and good for a few photo shoots.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - The Old Railway Station

The Old Railway Station in Kuala Lumpur used to be the city's railway terminal for the KTM trains. Not any more, when the railway terminal shifted to the more modern KL Sentral in 2001. Today, the station functions as one of the many stations used by the KTM Komuter trains travelling the Rawang-Seremban Route and the Sentul-Port Klang Route.

Situated along Jalan (Road) Sultan Hishamuddin, the Old Railway Station was built in 1910 during the British colonial era. The station is a fine example of British colonial architecture with its mix of Western, Moorish and Mughal designs. Major features of the station include its dome-shaped pavilions, unique ogee arches and pointed minarets.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - National Mosque

The National Mosque (Masjid Negara) in Kuala Lumpur is nearby the Old Railway Station and located along Jalan (Road) Sultan Hishamuddin. Built in 1965, the National Mosque is modern in its architecture but still retains resemblance of Islamic designs. Key features of the mosque are the 73-metre (240 feet) pointed minaret and its blue umbrella-like roof.

A grand mosque during its early days, but now overtaken by other grander looking mosques such as the Putra Mosque in Putrajaya and the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque in Shah Alam. However, it is still an iconic and probably the most well-known mosque in Malaysia. Non-Muslims are welcome to visit the National Mosque after the five daily prayers.
