Cameron Highlands, Malaysia - About Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands is one of Malaysia's highland regions, located in the state of Pahang and about 220 km (138 miles) north of Kuala Lumpur. The highland is situated 1,500 metres (5,000 feet) about sea level and day temperatures are seldom above 25 Celsius (77 Farenheit) while night temperatures are much cooler but seldom cold. However, I remember it was much cooler when I visited Cameron Highlands in the 1980s.

Parts of Cameron Highlands are scenic while other areas are sadly spoiled by deforestation (due to agriculture activities) causing the rise in temperatures over the decades. Nevertheless, Cameron Highlands is still worth visiting with its scenic forested mountains, flower and vegetable farms, tea plantations and lively markets. There are numerous accommodation ranging from the budget priced inns to the high-end resorts.
